Car Insurance Suzuki (Car Insurance). can metallic paint be used on rims?can metallic paint be used on rims? i'm getting a set of 16s that look a mess since the original owner painted them and messed up. i wanna paint it with a combination of metallic silver and a color shift effect. my car is bright silver so i wanna paint them to match my car. i know i have to clean them up first and also would i have to use alot of clear coat on them or not much As long as you prep them right you can spray any color you want on your rims. Strip them down to the metal, lots of high heat primer, what ever paint you want, depending on the paint you use you may not even need that much clear coat. If you have the money I recommend getting them powdercoated though. You can use something like an adonized paint which should look okay. Just clearcoat it to keep the finish intact. you know, if you make a stand of some kind (like a 50 gallon oil drum or something about waist high that you can put a tire on without the insert or the lug nuts, you can scrub it good with sos pads (scrub the tire too, take the dirt off the sidewall) hose it off before the soap dries let it dry really good, and then masking tape around the tire rim a few times, carefully and then use masking tape and doubled newspaper to protect the rest of the tire. Do two at a time , or all four All you have to do is primer it, let that cure, and then paint it. I use the big cans of automotive spray paint in the auto parts store. after that dries good you can clear coat it with a few coats of clear too. do this on a good day when the sun can help, and it should come out looking good, just don't mess with it until the paint is hard.If you do it on a weekend get them all done on a saturday, let the sun cure them in the afternoon (if its really hot, do it in the shade, it will cure fine. But let it sit overnight and set up and it should actually last awhile. People get in a hurry, use cheap paint, try to do it sideways with the tire on the car, what ever, but it does not look good, if you skip all the preparation work and do it like I said and let it set up overnight there is less chance of chips flakes and runs and holidays (places paint missed) Having the patience, and the time to do it right, can make it look good. And lighter colors show up much better both day and night, white is the most popular, people like black, but I never have. You can go to a tire shop, and order new center caps and lug nuts for all four tires for a bout sixty or seventy bucks. I painted my truck rims and didn't use any clear coat and the paint hasn't raided or chipped and it's been over a year and I live on a gravel road and do alot of gravel driving. Suzuki . Troubleshooting GMC TrucksProblems with your GMC truck have the potential to lead to frustration. There are several different engine sizes, configurations and types -- diesel and gas -- used by GMC over the past several years. Although it is nearly impossible to think of every scenario that you might encounter with your vehicle, there are some general troubleshooting principles that can help identify many problems. Spending time to accurately troubleshoot the problem saves both time and money by avoiding simply throwing parts at the engine, hoping that they are the right ones. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need OBD II scanner Ruler Step by Step : 1 Locate the OBD II terminal on your later-model GMC truck. The terminal can be in different locations, but it will be within reach of the driver's seat. Commonly the OBD II terminal is beneath the steering column, and may be protected by a small panel. More rarely, the terminal is on the back side of the middle console. Plug the OBD II scanner into the terminal and turn on the scanner. Turn the truck's ignition key to the "Accessories" position. Read the codes from the OBD II scanner and look up the codes on a website such as AutoZone. According to MSN Autos, certain 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 models have commonly experienced problems with the crankshaft position sensor. Another common OBD II fault code in Sierra 1500 models includes the antilock brake system (ABS) control module. 2 Search the Internet for recalls and TSB's (technical service bulletins) on your particular make and model of GMC truck. Recalls can be found at websites such as the InternetAutoGuide. TSBs are found on multiple websites, including AutoZone. Recalls are fixed for free by GMC dealers while TSBs are recommendations. Both recalls and TSBs provide valuable information regarding potential problems that your GMC truck may be experiencing. 3 Listen for specific sounds, noises and other indications that your GMC truck is experiencing problems with a specific component. If you notice metal on metal grinding or if you hear a slight whirling followed by a click when you start your engine, then your starter is not engaging properly with the flywheel. If you hear metal grinding when you depress the brake pedal, then your brake pads probably need replacement. Feel the hoses leading through the firewall from the air conditioning system's evaporator. If the hoses are not cold when the air conditioning system is turned on full blast, then you may have a refrigerant leak. 4 Inspect your tailpipe for black smoke coming out when the engine is warmed up, which is an indication that the fuel injectors may be fouled or that one of your ignition-related sensors is malfunctioning. Other fuel system-related concerns for the Sierra 1500 include clogged fuel injectors and malfunctioning fuel pressure regulators, fuel level sensors and fuel pumps. If you notice poor fuel efficiency in your GMC truck and your sensors are operating correctly, then you may be experiencing serious fuel system issues. 5 Turn and remove your GMC Sierra 1500 key in the ignition switch. If the key does not turn past the locked position or if it cannot be removed, then you have a faulty lock cylinder, which is also common for many 2000 Sierra 1500 models. To fix the lock cylinder, the entire ignition housing assembly will need to be removed from the steering column and replaced. Tips & Warnings OBD II is standard on every vehicle manufactured since 1995. Suzuki . Saab 9.3 TroubleshootingTroubleshooting problems with your Saab 9.3 can be a very frustrating and time-consuming process if you do not know what areas to look at first. Auto manufacturers today now equip their cars with an onboard diagnostic computer that allows both drivers and mechanics to scan the diagnostic system for error codes. There are error codes given out for each unique component of your car which has a sensor that is connected to the diagnostic computer. You can scan for these error codes to find out which parts are failing, saving you time in the troubleshooting process. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need OBDII Code ReaderSuggest EditsItem AddWhy is it necessary?Done Step by Step : 1 Find the location of your 9.3's onboard diagnostic port. Check the owner's manual if you cannot locate it on your own. Typically, the diagnostic ports are located underneath the steering wheel somewhere in the driver's side foot well. The specific location can vary depending on what year and generation that your 9.3 is. 2 Put your key into your Saab's ignition and turn it to the "II" or "III" position, which will respectively either turn on the electronics system, or activate the electronics and turn on the engine. When troubleshooting some problems, your engine may not be able to run, so it is sufficient to turn it to the second position only. 3 Insert the code reader's plug into the diagnostic port while your car's electronics are turned on. Allow the code reader to scan for error codes that are present in the diagnostic system. 4 Watch the display of the code reader as it scans for error codes. Write down a list of error codes that appear on the display. 5 Contact your local Saab dealer, auto parts store, or local Saab mechanic and explain that you are having trouble decoding error codes on your Saab. Each of these three resources will be able to provide you with the specific parts that are associated with each error code, allowing you to determine which parts need to be replaced. *turn and move in any direction — up, down, and from side to side. 9. The differential (see Figure 9-3) is another box of gears that takes the movement of the spinning driveshaft through a 90-degree angle to the axle that turns the drive wheels. It also allows each side of the axle to rotate at a different speed. This ability is necessary because, when you go around a sharp curve, the outside wheel travels farther than the inside wheel and has to move more quickly than the inside wheel, just like the ice skater at the end of a snap-the-whip line. 411

* Manual Transmissions Whether your car has an automatic transmission or a manual (sometimes called standard) transmission, you should understand how a manual trans mission works. The principles involved are fairly simple, and an automatic transmission does basically the same things, just without a manual clutch and with less manual shifting. What a manual transmission consists of This section takes a look at each major part of a manual transmission. I covered most of them in the drive train section earlier in this chapter. This section should put them into closer perspective. The gearshift The gearshift can be located on the steering column or on the floor in front of, or between, the front seat(s). Older cars designed for the general market used to have shifts with three forward speeds located on the steering column (very old cars had a two-foot gearshift located in front of the driver). Then sportier models with four forward speeds emerged. The gearshift in these cars was located on the floor, which gave rise to the term "four on the floor." Today, most vehicles with manual transmissions have floor shifts with five forward speeds. And some sports cars have standard gearboxes with six forward speeds. Suzuki . * The clutch You use the clutch when you start, stop, and shift gears. In each case, you step on the clutch pedal with your left foot to disengage the clutch disk from the flywheel so that the engine's crankshaft can turn independently of the transmission's input shaft. Otherwise, if you attempted to shift gears without using the clutch, the gears in the transmission would rotate at different speeds and would clash and break their teeth. The clutch consists of several major parts, each of which is listed here (refer to Figure 9-1 to see where these parts are). The section "Taking Care of Your Clutch" in Chapter 17 provides instructions for dealing with many of them. The clutch pedal is located on the floor of the car to the left of the brake pedal. The clutch pedal is connected to the clutch release lever via linkage. Sometimes a cable is used; most newer cars use hydraulic components.
